About Us

WEP-TOGO is a non-political, non-profit women-led organization that plays a vital role in mobilizing and engaging women and youth in the sustainable management of natural resources.

Founded on June 13, 2014, WEP-TOGO has established itself as a driving force for women’s empowerment and environmental preservation in Togo. Officially recognized by the Ministry of Territorial Administration, Decentralization, and Local Authorities under registration number 0630/MATDCL SGDLPAP-DOCA dated September 16, 2015, the organization has solidified its presence and commitment to the communities it serves.

Its transition to official NGO status was formalized on August 8, 2019, under number 986/MPDC/2019, marking a new chapter in its growth and its ability to positively influence environmental governance.

WEP-TOGO has established local branches in several key prefectures including Agou, Vo, Zio, Lacs, Yoto, Tchaoudjo, and Kozah enabling broad outreach and meaningful impact across the country. These branches reflect WEP-TOGO’s commitment to building a strong network of women leaders and engaged youth, all dedicated to environmental stewardship and social progress.

Our Means of action

Strategic Partnerships
At WEP-Togo, we build strong partnerships with local organizations, particularly women’s groups and cooperatives, to promote the sustainable management of natural resources. As active members of national platforms and consortiums such as CONAFE, CF-REDD+, ANOJEF, COFET, and REFACOF, we work closely with communities, NGOs, and the Togolese government. Our goal is to align our actions with the 2025 national roadmap and international commitments for a healthy environment and a peaceful society.

Capacity Building
We are committed to empowering vulnerable communities, especially women and youth, in the face of climate change. Through capacity building, we aim to transform these groups into resilient and engaged actors of sustainable development.

Advocacy

WEP Togo acts as a voice for vulnerable populations, particularly women and young people. We support them in their quest to influence political decisions, both locally and nationally, to significantly improve their living conditions.
